For all of us looking for ways to save money I highly suggest checking out The Grocery Game

The Grocery Game is a website that can save you hundreds of dollars on your grocery bill each month. Log in, spend a few minutes with a pair of scissors, and you're off to win The Grocery Game!

When you play, you'll get a weekly list (called Teri's List) of the lowest-priced products at your supermarket matched with manufacturers' coupons and weekly specials -- advertised and unadvertised. The Grocery Game does all the hard work and research, and presents it to you in a straightforward format.

Some folks buy multiple Sunday papers and clip all of the coupons. Others "buy" coupons online. I like Coupon Clippers. Also the Grocery Game has a Forum where you can get on a "coupon train" and trade coupons with others via mail.

It is important to know that if coupons come out on Sundays that it usually takes 3-4weeks until the products will be at their rock bottom prices which is why The Grocery Game is the best source. They track weekly prices at the stores of your choice and tell you when is the right time to buy.

I'm sure you know the English company MacLaren?
Well they are coming out with FANTASTIC seat covers for their strollers. Tons of different prints ranging from bold to preppy and ONLY $30.

30 bucks for a bit of design, a bit of savvy and a long glance from others mom's at the park. Worth it? I think so!

We found these uber-cool booster seats for car safety from a Canadian company called CLEK. We loved their stain resistant fabrics and colors and the fact that they are made by an automotive seat manufacturer who was commission by the Canadian government to create a safer car booster seat.

Too Many Vaccines

Talking with parents about vaccinations is on par with discussing religion or politics. My husband and I refuse to do it. We aren't necessarily anti-vaccine but we are terrified of the idea of vaccination injuries. Coupled with the rising incidence of autism (for which NO ONE can find a cause) we have delayed vaccines for our two young boys. Agree with me? Disagree with me? It doesn't really matter...we all have to navigate this path on our own.

Have you heard about the YOGIPOOF??

I called their company looking for information on this super groovy HUGE bean bag and wound up with one. Let me tell you....my kids adore it.

We got one in turqoise and it is about as long as I am!

My kids think it is an airplane which they straddle and ride. My 2.5 year old winds up and sprints full force into it inthe mornings when he has energy to burn. 3 or 4 kids have crashed comfortably on it for movie time when the adults are socializing at cocktail hour.

It also makes for a great spot to nurse my infant when the toddler wants to snuggle up next to us.

They also make a special nursing pillow that makes this job all the more easy and is better than a boppy because it is bigger and multi-functional.

The cover comes off for an easy wash and the beads can even be replaced as they compress over time. We have had ours a month and I think it gets better over time...softer and squishier.

Nourish Interactive is a neat site I recently came across.

So we have 2 babies and might someday have a third (dare I even write that??)
Our Ford Explorer is barely fitting my toddler when my husband is driving.
We are considering a mini-van (I never thought I would write those words) but would love an alternative. Driving one of those massive SUV's is really not my style but then again neither is the minivan.

We just bought a new house with a pool and that terrifies me.
I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old - neither of them can swim.
In doing research I found this site from Infant Swimming Resource

CLICK HERE to see something terrifyingly beautiful and amazing at the same time.

These folks teach 6 month old babies to float on their backs when they are in the water...even if they are fully clothed.

The closest instructor I can find is probably 45 minutes from my house and the class is daily for 4 weeks minimum. I think it will be worth every minute I sit in traffic.

Folks, peace of mind is hard to come by when it comes to your babies.....and it is worth every red cent.

Teddy is due in 48 days (but who is counting???)
We have the nursery pretty well set up and stocked.
We used Henry's old crib and dresser bought a new modern lamp which is on an old short bookcase on which I placed a round piece of glass and plain white tablecloth.
And...we borrowed a glider from a friend.

The husband didn't want to shell out any more money on cool nursery stuff as we are moving next spring and the boys rooms will get re-do's at that point anyhow.

However, I just can't get into the glider thing.
Henry tipped it over trying to climb into it so I don't feel like it is really safe first of all. Secondly, I am so in love with Henry's Sleepytime rocker from Nurseryworks that I want the same for Teddy.

It was the most comfortable nursing chair and now it seats us both comfortably for storytime before bed. I like it better than their "storytime rocker" as the back is higher and more comfortable for my head while late-night nursing.

I met Kay (one of the owners of Nurseryworks) at the ICFF in NY in May and she couldn't have been nicer. She did mention that if I was looking to buy stuff for the new nursery to contact her directly for better pricing. If I could shave off a few pennies then maybe the husband will let me splurge for another rocker.

It truly is gorgeous - dontchathink?

1. Head over to GAWKER today where they will post the finalists in the Pretentious Baby Names contest. Personally I am really sick of people thinking they are rock stars when they name their kiddos. What ever happened to Lisa and Brian as names? Now it is Blakely, Danforth, Pemberly, Chardonnay, and Kant. I find it rather annoying.

In 2000, a 4 year old cancer patient named Alexandra "Alex" Scott announced a seemingly simple idea -she was holding a lemonade stand to raise money to help "her doctors" find a cure for kids with cancer. I think I found THE coolest hi-chair.
Genevieve Grenier was showing the first of hopefully many product to come from AGE Design out of Canada:: the HiLo kids chair.

This chair works for kids 6 months to 6 years as the innovative design actually provides 2 chairs and different heights and widths to accomodate your growing child. It has a molded plastic seat with wildcherry wood legs and comes in 4 cool colors:: Asparagus, Carrot, Portobello and Raspberry and retails for $425 (CND) I am not sure who will be the first in the US to carry it but I did see that Design Public had stopped by their booth so perhaps look for it there!

Cool thing about getting your own? Their brochure says that you can recycle the shipping box to be used as a child's playhouse!

My Most Favorite

My very most favorite from the ICFF show is the iAhn Bassinet. Designed for his new baby, YiAhn, Min - an industrial designer created this sweet baby keeper.

The coolest thing about this bassinet is that it can become a toy bin and bookshelf or a chair and table.

Not cheap at $2000 and produced on demand you'll be sure to have a uber-hip unique baby item should you splurge on your new baby or your favorite blogger's new baby ((hint..hint))

I met two great guys at the ICFF who own INMODERN - a design firm based in Indianapolis and spent a bunch of time talking with Scott Willy about his sustainable furniture ((Hi Scott))
They have a small line of children's furniture called ECOTOTS - my favorite of which is their table and 4 stool set.

Currently in a reddish color (fire) and a lime green (leaf) the word is all sourced in the US and is birch. 100% formaldehyde free so there is no off-gassing! ((if you don't know what off-gassing is...google it immediately!))

The furniture comes flat packed and is assembled without tools...Daddy will be thrilled.

I just got back from a day well spent in NYC walking BOTH the National Stationery Show and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair...I am wiped out but so, so inspired. Wednesday is my "big" ultrasound...the one where we'll make sure our little one is healthy as well as find out the sex. Though I have had 3 dreams that it is a girl I am pretty sure the results will be BOY.

I am such the online girl and I think this is a great idea...I just may have to do this for #2.
Heritage Makers allows you to have an online scrapbook of sorts.

Open up your account...type all about your baby's first roll-over, crawl, tooth etc and upload your photo...close your browser and then go back to it anytime. Print a book at the end of year one and there you have your instant baby book and no messy writing.
I kept a blog for Henry (and still do) and I am in the process of backtracking to upload it to a similar site (www.blurb.com) and it is such a pain in the butt. If I had only uploaded it all along things would be so much easier.

She put our daughter down, called me on my cell phone and left her phone near the pack-and-play. I put her call on speaker and muted my phone. Want to time your baby’s nap so they don’t oversleep and ruin your evening later? Simply push the zzz’s button, the timer will start counting the minutes, and you’re set. You can even set an alarm for each button to alert you at a set amount of time later – an hour, 3 hours, etc. -- reminding you to wake, feed or check baby’s diaper.

The ITZBEEN is comes with a clock, backlit display so you can read it in the dark, and alarms that can sound or silently change a button’s color. There is even a handy left-right switch on the bottom to remind breastfeeding moms which side they ended on last. No more safety pins on the bra! Hooray!

The ITZBEEN also has a wonderful nightlight feature that we’ve started using as our middle-of-the-night flashlight for checking on our babies. It’s the perfect amount of light to keep you from tripping over anything, but still not bright enough to wake baby.

With our first kids, as we repeatedly lost our little feeding journals and deliriously stared at our bedside clocks trying to remember where we even were and what we were supposed to be doing, we dreamed of a timer that would make things a little easier. The folks at ITZBEEN delivered our dream timer and more. It even includes little touches like a lock button to prevent an accidental button push from starting a timer over. Some products say they are portable, but you really can throw this in your diaper bag and go!

It’s got an attractive, modern styling. It’s a nice cool blue color, but more colors are coming! It’s nice and compact, just over 3-1/2 inches tall, yet slim. It’s contoured to fit in your hand beautifully, but is still big enough to read easily. It stands on its own like a champ, but also includes a belt clip for portability.

It’s easy to see how the ITZBEEN might save the sanity of a newborn mom, but we also found it useful for all other ages. Great for medication reminders, setting up structure for a potty trainer, even keeping track of TV or computer time logged by an older child. The ITZBEEN is also a great tool for caregivers, grandparents and babysitters since it allows you to set alarms reminding people that don’t live in GaGaLand how often your child needs to be fed, changed and checked on.

The only thing we’d like to see added is a carrying bag to protect the case and buttons from scratches and dust since we do tote it with us everywhere. We expect they’ll come out with one though, as this new company, started by a husband and wife team, seem poised to deliver great future products as well!
