We're Growing

Over here at HipKidBlog we are on our way to serious girth..ok, not quite yet.
8 weeks pregnant but anticipating that morning when I wake up and my favorite jeans don't quite fit.

Think Spring

Last year our family signed up to participate in a local organic farm.
We heard about it through the grapevine and it was a really great experience.
We purchased an individual share (enought to feed 2 people but we always had extras) and it was about $17 a week. Each week on our designated pick up day I went to the farm with my extra grocery bags in tow and shopped at the farm stand for organic lettuces, beets, green beans, berries etc...whatever was harvested that week we got a share of. Each week there were also "pick you own crops" like snap peas, beans and strawberries and everyweek you could cut your own wildflowers. Pretty abundant for only $17 a week.

Henry was too little last year but this summer he will be able to trot through the fields with me and taste those sun warmed strawberries fresh from the field as we pick them together.

If you love hip and modern but don't love the price tags associated with most modern pieces then you have to check out these two cribs.

Crib#1 - the Roxanne


$299 at WALMART!!! it looks like such a great piece. Similar to the stylings of Nurseryworks or Offi Cribs for about 1/5 the price. Walmart is also selling super cute bedding and dressers.

Crib#2 The Slotti

$250 at Target

This one I don't love as much and I would paint the pink&white sides either a dark chocolate brown or plain white. It is a bit less modern but really cute for a baby girl.

Either way you can't go wrong for a great modern crib under $300.

Happy Birthday

Big Henry turns 1 today!!
In honor of him we are taking the day off and headed to the local Aquarium for a day of fun!

Yesterday he had a big party but cried through the Happy Birthday song and wasn't the least bit interested in the cake.

I read a tip over another blog...
They say to pack away your children's holiday/Christmas books along with your ornaments and decorations. Chances are they are bored with them anyway and this way...next year they will seem brand new.

I have to talk about this cool stroller.
My NYC friend Shannon has it and her kids ride in style.
It is such a great alternative to those bulky double strollers.

It is Phil&Ted's E3

What I like about it is that the second child rides below closer to the ground.
Shannon's older son rides low and seems to have no complaints at all.





When our #2 comes along we are definetly jumping on the Phil&Ted's Wagon...er...I mean Buggy.
